Coimbatore: For the first time within the town, a political birthday party could be noticed the use of school and school buses to ferry its cadre and the public to a birthday party match.
The highway shipping department, school schooling department and the directorate of collegiate schooling have directed faculties and schools in and around the district to offer their buses to transport people to the MGR centenary anniversary celebrations to be held within the town on December 3.
However, AIADMK urban district secretary, Coimbatore, P R G Arun Kumar stated the birthday party has now not asked for buses from faculties and schools.
"It is true that the RTO and school education department have approached the schools for the buses. The inspector of matriculation schools, R Geetha, had conducted a meeting with a few schools to instruct them about it," senior representative of a faculty's management informed TOI.
Geetha is claimed to have recognized no less than 22 faculties in Coimbatore, Tirupur and the Nilgiris to coordinate with different faculties to prepare the buses. While Geetha was once now not reachable, the district leader educational officer, T Ganeshamoorthy, stated most effective the inspector of matriculation faculties was once conscious about the details.
Besides the school schooling department, the street shipping department has also taken interest in making sure that colleges lend their buses for the event. "Schools have been asked to provide details of buses and send drivers along with them. We will also have to bear the fuel cost," stated a representative of a faculty management.
The joint shipping commissioner, Coimbatore, J Muruganantham, denied this. "We have not asked for any school or college buses," he stated.
Schools also raised issues over the safety of buses. "The buses are designed to seat children. We are concerned about the safety of the buses if they were to be used to transport party cadre. We are also worried if the buses will be back to ferry children to school on Monday morning (December 4)," the school management representative stated.
Colleges within the district had, in the meantime, gained a verbal exchange from the joint director of collegiate schooling on Monday (Nov 27), in the hunt for main points of choice of buses, seating capability, contact main points of driving force and shipping coordinator.
"We were asked to submit these details on Tuesday (Nov 28) 11am. There was no mention if the details were meant for the MGR centenary anniversary celebrations, but the document was named MGR," stated a management representative of an arts and science faculty.
The joint director of collegiate schooling, S Kala, was once now not reachable for a remark.
