NEW DELHI: Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanian these days expressed hope that at least one or two states will put in force the idea of common elementary income (UBI) within the subsequent two years.
Subramanian within the Economic Survey 2016-17 had mooted the idea of common elementary income or a uniform stipend paid to every adult and child, deficient or rich.
"I can bet ... within the next two years, at least one or two states will implement UBI," Subramanian advised reporters right here.
Universal elementary income (UBI) will guarantee all electorate sufficient income to hide their elementary needs and could be easier to administer than the current anti-poverty schemes, which can be plagued by waste, corruption and abuse.
