BHUBANESWAR: Odisha government has decided to arrange profession counselling centres in 10 state-run universities. The profession counselling centres would provide a wide variety of supports to students related to admissions, higher studies and site.
The varsities include Ramadevi University in Bhubaneswar, Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, Fakir Mohan University in Balasore, North Orissa University in Baripada, Gangadhar Meher University in Sambalpur, Khallikote University in Berhampur and Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University in Puri.
"These centers will provide placement assistance to the students and will also help them in their career planning, preparation for selection tests, summer placement, internship and final placements," said Higher Education Minister Anant Das.
The centers, that have already been arrange at Utkal University and Ramadevi Women's University in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur University in Ganjam and Sambalpur University, might be made useful and energetic.
The counselling centres will collaborate with reputed organisations and institutes for providing coaching for efficient verbal exchange of the students and will also tie up with many distinguished business and professional organisations.
"The centre will conduct various activities like aptitude test, group discussion, and guest lectures from corporate personalities from time to time. Besides, the centre will work as placement cell for the students of the university," said a senior officer of upper training department.
The state government has allocated a total Rs 93 lakh for setting up the centres and the schools have been requested to utilise the price range by way of February 2018. "It is already January and the government has asked to set up the centre by February end, which is quite ambitious. Even the funds cannot be transferred to other heads," said a school reputable requesting anonymity.
Besides, the centre will even prepare motivational categories and lectures on atmosphere objectives for life for college students in collaboration with equal opportunity centre of the university. The centres will even conduct programmes to fortify confidence and scale back rigidity and anxiousness among students for showing interviews and examinations.
