Centre of Excellence for Virtual and Augmented Reality to be set up at IIT Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) used to be signed between the state government, tool era park of India (STPI), philanthropist Sushmita Bagchi and IIT Bhubaneswar for putting in of an Incubator namely Centre of Excellence for Virtual and Augmented Reality (VARCOE) at IIT Bhubaneswar right here.
The centre will adopt cutting-edge research, expand trying out facility/laboratories for complicated algorithms, application and strategies in assist of virtual and augmented truth for immersive visualization and allied spaces. It will also be offering highly centered classes on augmented truth to the scholars. It will help in growing application platforms form specific ability construction programmes in response to the business need, mentioned the respectable statement.

The state government supplied Rs 2.5 crore for the centre. STPI has given Rs 2.5 crore for the incubator. Writer Susmita Bagchi has already given philanthropic contribution of Rs 2.5 crore for this function.


"The centre will be one of its kinds in the country. The incubator on virtual augmented reality at IIT Bhubaneswar will be a landmark initiative for promoting research, technology incubation and product development in the country. It will cater to the startups and new generation entrepreneurs working in the area of virtual augmented reality for immerse visualization and allied areas," mentioned leader minister Naveen Patnaik.


MSME secretary L N Gupta mentioned 162 startups starting from healthcare and lifestyles sciences to household products and services, IT and web of things (IoT) to finance era and food products and services are registered under the Startup Odisha Initiative. Besides, four recognized and 20 other incubators are running around the state for incubation of the startups, he added.


R V Rajakumar, director of IIT Bhubaneswar, mentioned the VARCoE shall be helpful for the startups, researchers, faculty and budding entrepreneurs. It will leverage a top performance computing facilities available at IIT Bhubaneswar and college assets for research and programs within the spaces including augmented truth and visually truth, he added.


Among others, MSME minister Prafulla Samal, leader secretary AP Padhi, writer Susmita Bagchi and STPI director basic Omkar Rai had been present all over signing of the MoU.
