Hubballi: Tension prevailed at Gangavathi in Koppal district on Monday evening as members of Hindu organizations attempted to dam the car by which MLA Iqbal Ansari used to be traveling, protesting his alleged remark in opposition to Hindu activists. The protesters had been detained earlier than their release later in the evening.
Ansari, while addressing a meeting at Muslim Vartaman programme in Koppal on Sunday, allegedly stated that some other people worship Lord Rama in their homes but indulge in murder, manhandling, loot and dacoity. He stated that some other people had been sowing seeds of hatred in the name of Rama.
"Nowhere in the Gita or Quran or Bible is it written to kill, rape or elope with girls. But all these are being done due to incitement. Our youths are being arrested. I want to tell the youths not to take the law into their hands," he stated.
Ansari also allegedly stated that the incitements have greater since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister.
