Belagavi: Maharashtra revenue minister, who had objected to motion against participants of city local bodies for chanting anti-Karnataka slogans, sprang a surprise via speaking in Kannada and making a song a tune via Dr Rajkumar at a function in Tavag village, Gokak taluk, on Friday.
Chandrakant Patil, who may be minister in control of Kolhapur district, was once collaborating in the inaugural programme of Durgadevi Temple. With Belagavi district in-charge Ramesh Jarkiholi provide on the dais, Patil began his speech in Kannada ahead of moving to Hindi. The BJP leader also sang "Huttidare Kannada Nadinalli Huttabeku, Meetidare Kannada Nadannu Mettabeku" which Dr Rajkumar rendered in 'Akasmika'.
In May 2017, Patil had written to chief minister Siddaramaiah, condemning the observation of city construction minister Roshan Baig of motion against participants of city local bodies for allegedly chanting anti-Karnataka slogans.
Patil's gesture on Friday shocked each Kannada activists and Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti participants alike.
