NWKRTC looks to beat pvt operators

Hubballi: The North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) were given a shot in its arm with the new addition of 406 buses to its fleet.

In an attempt to tackle competition from private operators, it is introducing non-AC sleeper buses to Bengaluru from each taluk below its jurisdiction. It has also been launching new buses to puts like Mysuru, Hyderabad and Chennai. Owing to luxurious offerings by means of private operators, the NWKRTC has noticed dwindling patronage in its bus services and products, in particular to locations like Bengaluru, Mangaluru and neighbouring states.


Sadanand Danganavar, president, NWKRTC, Hubballi, instructed TOI that all possible measures are being taken to tackle private operators by means of bettering the standard of provider. "For the primary time, now we have started non-AC sleeper bus provider to Mysuru from Belagavi on an ordeal foundation two weeks in the past. It has gained an amazing response; we will now make it a typical from Friday. Besides, now we have also presented multi-axle Volvo bus services and products to Bengaluru or even Chennai and Hyderabad.


The state govt has sanctioned Rs 220 crore for the improvement of bus terminuses and providing more passengers amenities at these puts below NWKRTC, Hubballi. Of the 650 new buses sanctioned to NWKRTC, Hubballi, 406 have already been gained. "More buses are likely to be added within the days to return," said Daganavar.


NWKRC covers Belagavi, Karwar, Chikkodi, Dharwad, Hubballi, Haveri, Gadag, Sirsi, and Bagalkot divisions. It has five,077 buses with 4,771 schedules.
