Online betting racket busted, 17 arrested

NOIDA: UP-STF's Noida unit on Saturday night arrested 17 persons thinking about online betting from other towns in Uttar Pradesh. The accused had created two betting web sites and made their web website hosting on international servers. They steered folks to play the online game after which manipulated the effects without their wisdom.

Triveni Singh, additional SP, STF, stated that a man, Brajesh Kumar, had registered an FIR in Noida STF's Cyber Police Station on January 17. The complainant stated he gained a call from an individual who introduced him to the online lottery website - www.lakshyaindia.in. Kumar invested some money and lost it. He then suspected dubious activities and informed police in regards to the topic.


Singh stated investigations revealed that the accused have been running online lottery from other places - Agra, Sultanpur and Allahabad. Based on the digital surveillance and IP addresses, police performed raids and arrested 17 persons from 3 places.


The accused had been identified as Akash, Sanjay Jaiswal, Raman Khurana, Manu Kushwaha, Namit Bhandari, Kallu, Keshu Sharma, Sunny, Gyan Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Sumit Kumar, Chandrashekhar, Akil, Birju, Suresh, Vishal and Terendra Pal.


Sanjay Jaiswal, an authentic resident of Allahabad, was the mastermind and he was running the racket. He advised police that he had created two faux web sites - www.vjackpot.co.in, www.lakshyaindia.in, and made their website hosting on international servers. "We made networks on different cities and urged people to play the betting game. They used to play the game and we manipulated the results as the servers were in our control," he stated.
