Sushma Swaraj,Shashi Tharoor spar over making Hindi official language at United Nations

NEW DELHI: External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Congress member Shashi Tharoor traded barbs in Lok Sabha on Wednesday over making Hindi an professional language at the UN.

After Swaraj asserted that the government was willing to visit any lengths to get Hindi the status of professional language in the UN, Tharoor puzzled the government's need to push a language that was spoken by way of the folks of just one country.


Tharoor stated, "Hindi is not the national language, it is an official language." While the PM or overseas minister were loose to talk in Hindi and take pleasure in it if they sought after to, Tharoor stated there was no need to impose the language on long term leaders who might constitute non-Hindi talking states.
