Yogi to seers: Don't make (temple) demands

ALLAHABAD: Without any direct connection with the Ram temple in Ayodhya, UP chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath on Friday asked saints and seers "not to make demands." He said that identical to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has succeeded in getting global reputation for yoga and Kumbh with none requests, different standard demands would also be met over time.

The CM was once addressing the 'Sant Sammelan' organised through Viswa Hindu Parishad at Magh Mela. Earlier, saints and VHP leaders had, in their speeches, pressed for construction of Ram temple on the disputed website in Ayodhya. VHP's global general secretary Champat Rai had started his speech pointing out: "Construction of Ram temple is associated with the pride of country".

" Did saints have to demand for global recognition to yoga? When Narendra Modi became PM he did it. In the same way, Kumbh got heritage status," said Yogi. "Yaani, bina maange hi jab sab kuchh mil raha hai to santo ko maang nahi rakhni chahiye (If demands are getting fulfilled without being raised so saints should not press for more). Saints should instead give blessings (to us) and the works will get completed automatically," he added.
