Airport authority builds new terminal at Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has started working at the new built-in terminal building of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Guwahati.
Its basis stone was laid on 28 Jan by means of Civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and CM Sarbananda Sonowal.

This step has been taken to facilitate the expansion of air infrastructure in North east.


AAI has targeted to spend round Rs 3400 crores in creating the air infrastructure in northeast within 2014-15 to 2020-2021. Out of which Rs 900 crores tasks have already been finished, 2300 crores more tasks we're concentrated on to complete in next Three-4 years time, as mentioned by means of Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman, Airport Authority of India.


The authority is expecting that the choice of flights running from the terminal will build up significantly as soon as the airport becomes operational for24*7 from April onwards.


The new building is predicted to be built by means of April 2018 at an estimated cost of Rs. 1232 crores.
