Bharathiar University ex-VC again moves court for bail

COIMBATORE: Former Bharathiar University vice-chancellor A Ganapathy on Tuesday approached the particular court again looking for bail.

Ganapathy has been lodged in the Coimbatore prison for the last fortnight since his arrest by means of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti – Corruption (DVAC) officials for receiving bribe from an assistant professor to make his posting permanent.


Soon after his arrest, Ganapathy had approached the court on February 8 looking for bail. But, the petition used to be brushed aside. A Chemistry professor from the university, who used to be arrested together with Ganapathy, used to be additionally denied bail.


On Tuesday, Ganapathy’s advocate C Gnanabharathi filed the second one the bail plea before Judge V John Mino in the particular court for Prevention of Corruption Act. The court has slated the hearing on February 22.


In the plea, Ganapathy stated he used to be probed by means of the DVAC sleuths for five days and that there used to be little need for additional interrogation.
