CBI questions Rotomac promoter Vikram Kothari in Rs 3,695 loan default case

NEW DELHI: CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) on Tuesday, for the second day is quizzing Rotomac proprietor Vikram Kothari, news company ANI reported.

On Monday, the investigation company had filed an FIR towards Kothari who at the side of his spouse and son have been taken into CBI custody for questioning. Kothari is embroiled in a case for allegedly cheating a consortium of public sector banks of Rs 3,695 crore through defaulting on loans he had taken for his business.

Earlier within the day, the Income Tax Department had connected 11 financial institution accounts in connection with the case.


CBI says that Rotomac cheated a consortium of 7 banks through siphoning off financial institution loans to the music of Rs 2,919 crore, except pastime. CBI says total outstanding amount, at the side of pastime liabilities for M/s Rotomac, is Rs 3,695 crore. According to the FIR copy, mortgage publicity of the banks are - Bank of India: Rs 754.77 crore, Bank of Baroda: Rs 456.63 crore, Indian Overseas Bank: Rs 771.07 crore, Union Bank of India: Rs 458.95 crore, Allahabad Bank: Rs 330.68 crore, Bank of Maharashtra: Rs 49.82 crore, Oriental Bank of Commerce: Rs 97.47 crore.


The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has additionally registered a money laundering case towards Kothari and his family members.
