Chicken shortage shuts KFCs across Britain

LONDON : Fast-food lovers had been in a flutter Monday after lots of the 900 KFC shops in the UK and Ireland had been compelled to near as a result of a scarcity of rooster.
The company apologized to shoppers, blaming "teething issues'' with its new delivery spouse, DHL.

KFC first apologized for the issues on Saturday. In an update Monday, it listed almost 300 retail outlets as open, but didn't say when the remaining may sign up for them.

It stated the ones branches that remained open had been running a restricted menu or shortened hours.


"We know that this may have inconvenienced some of you over the previous few days, and upset you whilst you sought after your fried rooster fix — we're in point of fact sorry about that,'' the company stated in a statement.


DHL, which recently took over the KFC contract from Bidvest Logistics, stated that "due to operational problems plenty of deliveries in fresh days had been incomplete or delayed.''


When DHL introduced in October that it had gained the KFC contract along logistics firm QSL, it promised to ``re-write the rule e-book and set a brand new benchmark for handing over contemporary merchandise to KFC in a sustainable method.''
