‘Coimbatore heroes’ honoured in Kerala

COIMBATORE: Transgender activist Tasleema Nasreen and social activist A Loganathan, who had been featured in TOI’s Coimbatore Heroes column for their selfless products and services to the welfare of downtrodden, had been honoured through two Rotary golf equipment in Thrissur in Kerala. The two had been offered with Rs 50,000 each in popularity in their products and services.

Tasleema, 33, who used to be thrown out of her area on the age of 13, began the NGO Small Differences in 2010 to assist patients, who had been abandoned through their family, at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. A passionate prepare dinner, she additionally offers catering products and services. In 2013, Tasleema began the NGO Change Trust, providing talent training programmes to other people from the transgender group.


Loganathan, a 51-year-old welder from Nanjundapuram, is helping underprivileged students pay their college fees with whatever he earns from cleaning bathrooms at private hospitals and companies. He has opened savings accounts with banks best to assist such students.
