This 12 months too, the shallot cultivation has coated round 1,000 hectares of agricultural lands in Tirupur.
“In cultivation, we bought small onion seeds for Rs 150/kg and 600 can be wanted for sowing in an acre. With fertilizers’ price and labour charges, total cultivation price would come round Rs 1.three lakh consistent with acre,” stated T Gopal of Parambikulam Aliyar Project.
Since the market worth has gone down steeply, buyers were ready to acquire the small onion, which was one of the vital industrial vegetable crop, for Rs 12-15/kg. It was at least one and a half occasions lesser than what it was sold sooner than three months ago. In many places, no buyer has come for the crop, stated the farmers.
Gopal stated, “Even if the farmers could store the crop for few months, possibility for the fee increase was gave the look to be far flung. So, the central and state governments must come forward to mend MSP for the crop and take steps to export them.”
“Without such measures, there will likely be chances for increase in the fee, and lend a hand the farmers to satisfy at least damage even within the small onion cultivation,” he added.
