GURUGRAM: The state animal husbandry division has known as for a Census of dairy and family cows and has began to tag them as a part of the Pashu Sanjivini programme which used to be launched in 2016.
This is the first time that dairy and family cows will likely be tagged in the state. The move aims to forestall cow owners from leaving them at the streets when they develop previous. Earlier, the state government had carried out drives to tag stray cows and cows in gaushalas as well as rehabilitate stray cows.
Puneeta Gehlawat, deputy director, Intensive Cattle Development Project (ICDP), stated, “We have began the mass tagging of dairy and hpousehold cows, which is occurring for the first time in the state. Till now, there were no Census of cows that farmers keep in their houses. We have already tagged 856 cows in the district. We have not began the counting but. But I hope that we can count 70% of dairy cows in the district via mid-March.”
Gehlawat stated the tagging would help in giving Aadhaar playing cards for cows. She stated, “The central government has plans to present Aadhaar playing cards for cows. A 12-digit unique quantity will likely be given for cows everywhere the rustic. The Aadhaar card can have complete main points of each and every cow, together with name of the owner, location, breed and color. It is for identity of those animals. If the farmer needs to avail any facility or receive advantages associated with his cattle, he has to turn the Aadhaar card. This knowledge will also be available online. So, one can simply put in the tag quantity and locate the cow.”
The Pashu Sanjivini programme aims to spot cattle and help farmers make stronger their cattle’s productivity. The central government will spend nearly Rs50 crore to tag cows. Gehlawat stated, “The layout for giving Aadhaar playing cards for cows has not come to us but.”
