Belagavi: With the state cupboard giving approval to Belagavi Urban Development Authority’s (BUDA) Kanabaragi residential format project (scheme no.61), lots of the hurdles within the implementation of the project have come to an end. BUDA received approval orders on Monday.
The proposed project planned over 159 acres and 23 guntas of land were going through legal and technical hurdles for the previous 10 years. BUDA attempted to work out a method with farmers through providing them developed land on a 60:40 ratio after which modified it to 50:50 after no longer discovering any takers.
Despite getting cupboard approval, the project confronted legal hurdles as farmers who owned 48 acres of the project approached the high court rejecting the second proposal too. In June, 2016, the Belagavi regional commissioner ordered land acquisition after pronouncing a compensation of Rs 5.61 crore to the landowners who had approached the court. However, the court issued a keep to the order.
BUDA commissioner C W Shakil Ahmed stated that the authority did not take the initiative to get the keep vacated in the past 12 months as the revised plan was but to be approved through the cupboard. “Farmers of 111 acres of the full 159 acres had given consent to the project when the court issued the keep. Now, all farmers excluding the ones owning about 14 acres of land have approved the project,” he stated.
“It’s no longer a big legal hurdle because simplest farmers of 14 acres are objecting to the project. The keep shall be vacated in a single or two hearings,” the commissioner stated.
Shakil stated the type code of behavior for the meeting elections won't impact the paintings as it's an ongoing project. He stated BUDA has already began arrangements to put in force the project
According to BUDA assets, 1,500 sites can be developed within the format during which 50% shall be given to the land homeowners.
