NIA takes over probe into Sasikumar murder case

COIMBATORE: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will probe the sensational homicide of Hindu Munnani spokesperson C Sasikumar. A contemporary FIR (first data document) has been registered in the case via NIA officers from Kochi on Wednesday. The FIR main points had been submitted to the particular courtroom for NIA cases at Poonamallee in Chennai.
Four suspects were already arrested via the crime-branch-CID (particular investigation department), Coimbatore, in reference to the case. They were charged below segment 302 of the IPC and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Meanwhile, a NIA team from Hyderabad, led via superintendent of police LR Kumar, is camping in Coimbatore to gather more information about the homicide case and suspects.

Sasikumar used to be hacked to demise via a four-member gang at Subramaniyampalayam on September 22, 2016. Initially, the case used to be investigated via the Coimbatore rural police. Eight particular teams were formed to nab the murderers. As the rural police did not make any step forward in the case, it used to be transferred to CB-CID (SID), Coimbatore. The CB-CID arrested Syed Abudhakir, 29, of KK Nagar in Saibaba Colony in reference to the homicide. Though Syed Abudhakir used to be not directly involved in the homicide, he used to be a close of pal of one of the suspects.

Later, the CB-CID arrested S Saddam Hussain, 27, S Zubair, 33, of GM Nagar in Ukkadam in reference to the case. On interrogation, the duo printed that Mubarak of Coimbatore used to be the mastermind of the homicide.

Two months ago, Mubarak used to be also arrested via the CB-CID police and he used to be remanded in judicial custody. While Mubarak remains to be behind bars, Syed Abudhakir, Saddam Hussain and Zubair were released below conditional bail.


Investigations also printed that Khani, 37, of Rathinapuri in Coimbatore, used to be also part of the gang. But he died of cardiac arrest a couple of months ago. The police also tried to ascertain the function of Khani in the homicide.


According to police sources, the suspects had informed the investigating officials that they plotted to homicide Sasikumar to avenge the homicide of J Abdul Hakkim, 27, a wall painter from Krishnaraj Colony in Ganapathy. Abdul Hakkim used to be murdered in September 2016.


But the police suspect that the murderers were operated via a gaggle of outfits. The NIA has planned to take custody of the 4 suspects arrested via the CB-CID (SID), Coimbatore.
