Religious structures on metro, PWD land likely to be shifted

Noida: The district administration has stated it would shift a decades-old Shani temple in Sector 63 within a month after the NHAI sought its relocation for widening NH-24.
According to officers, the land on which the temple used to be built belongs to the public works department (PWD). In an order on Friday, the Allahabad top court docket had directed quick moving of all spiritual constructions that were constructed on public land after January 1, 2011, and encroached on roads, pathways, lanes and aspect roads. On encroachments before January 2011, the court docket directed that they be shifted from their provide position within six months.

The DM, district police leader and circle officials of police could be held in command of the encroachments on road after June 10, 2016, the court docket had stated.

The administration has now requested the mahant dealing with the temple’s administration to vacate the plot and identify some other piece of land for relocation. Mahant Ramnath, who has been staying in the temple for the past 8 years, stated the duty of searching for a brand new position for the temple must be of the administration, and not the temple priests.

“A team of PWD officers visited the temple on Wednesday and threatened to demolish it. We informed them to come back every time they want. They presented us Rs five.five lakh for moving. What can we do with the cash if we depart the temple for which we have now sacrificed our lives?”

According to the mahant, the temple had arise around a many years previous peepal tree. “The temple is around 100 years previous,” he stated. He steered that the temple be shifted to the nearby green belt in Chhijarsi, as loads of devotees throng the temple on Saturdays.

Gautam Budh Nagar ADM Kumar Vineet stated the temple would not be allowed to come back up at the green belt. “Identifying some other plot of land is their headache. The NHAI has requested us to get it shifted so that widening can be completed in a month,” he stated.

While the district administration claimed it doesn’t know of any spiritual constructions bobbing up on public land after 2011, a mosque in Sector 76, which used to be built in 2011, has come beneath its radar. The Markaz Masjid used to be built on a plot given to Barola village in the sector for a graveyard. The land has now been allotted as parking space for the approaching Sector 78 metro station.

“The Authority gave us this land in lieu of a plot in Sector 49 which used to be bought for a road. It used to be intended for a graveyard, however a masjid used to be built as a result of there used to be nobody here,” stated Azad, the caretaker.

The mosque will have to be shifted somewhere else as the metro parking has to come back up at the house now. “This subject has been occurring for fairly a while. Since the Noida Authority owns the land in question, we can write to them asking them where the mosque might be shifted,” Vineet informed TOI.

Bilal Burney, chairman, Gautam Budh Nagar Waqf Board, claimed the masjid used to be not an encroachment.

Noida Authority ACEO RK Mishra stated any spiritual construction covering land allotted for parking can be shifted if the administration writes to them.
