COIMBATORE: Six persons, together with a woman, who allegedly cheated a number of girls to the music of Rs 50 lakh in numerous instances, have been arrested here, police stated here nowadays.
They arrested the crowd participants following a complaint from a city-based lady operating a good looks parlour at Erode.

Police stated the complainant, a 35-year-old lady, was once approached by means of one Poongodi, who instructed her that she had to pay Rs 1.20 crore to the RBI for shifting Rs 40,000 crore from Russia, reportedly obtained after the circle of relatives offered Iridium.

She promised the complainant half the volume if she helped in advancing some money.

Believing her, the girl paid Rs 3 lakh to her, police stated.

She changed into suspicious when Poongodi sought any other Rs 65 lakh and presented her to five men.


She promised to pay the cash in Coimbatore and complained to police.


The gang stayed in a hotel in the metropolis anticipating the girl's arrival but were arrested by means of police round mid-night the day past.


Besides, Poongodi, her husband Mohankumar, Sathishkumar and John Samipillai of Chennai, Kuppanzraj of Thiruvallur and Devakumar from Vellore were arrested, police stated.


Preliminary investigation published that the crowd had cheated many ladies to the music of Rs 50 lakh, they added. NVM BN
