TIRUPUR: Ten sovereigns of gold jewellery, Rs 71,000 in money and a cellular phone were stolen from a area at Namo Narayana Nagar, Amaravathipalayam in the town, on Sunday.
The burglars targeted the house when houseowner B Arun, who used to be operating a textile printing unit, left for Sivanmalai Temple to wait a marriage function together with his circle of relatives on early Sunday morning, police resources said. “When the circle of relatives returned, they found the again doorways damaged open. Miscreants had damaged three bureaus and stolen 10 sovereigns and a cell phone together with Rs 71,000 in money,” a police officer said.
Rural police have registered a case. Further investigation is on.
