MANGALURU: The anti-rowdy squad of the Mangaluru City police on Thursday arrested three other people in reference to an extortion case from Battakodi-Shibaroor, round 19 km from right here.
The police have identified the arrested as Pradeep Poojary, a resident of Ulaibettu, Dinesh Belchada, hailing from Bantwal and Shivaprasad from Mulki. They are part of a gang running from Kinnigoli, said resources.
They are also purported to have plotted to murder Eshwar Kateel, a potential MLA candidate for the Moodbidri-Mulki constituency, on a BJP price ticket. Eshwar alleged that a Congress chief from the locality had requested the trio to get him murdered.
According to resources, police got a tip-off in regards to the trio once they were extorting cash at Battakodi-Shibaroor near Kinnigoli ,and apprehended them. Weapons and a automobile were recovered from the accused.
