Asian Games organisers drop shooting events

PUNE: After the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games organisers reduced the number of quota for shooters and their Birmingham counterparts appearing uncertainty over the game’s inclusion within the 2022 edition, Indian capturing got another blow as Jakarta Asian Games organisers have determined to trim capturing events from their schedule.

The Asian Games organisers have got rid of all group events from their schedule in conjunction with losing traditional Asiad events like rifle 50m susceptible (women and men), 50m pistol, 25m centre hearth pistol and 25m usual pistol.

Although all the dropped events are non-Olympic events, their exclusion has hit India exhausting. Indian shooters have won medals in these events, especially the group events. The Asiad organisers, on the other hand, have included double entice, which used to be got rid of from the Olympics cycle not too long ago.

The dropped events: Men (15): 25m centre hearth pistol (individual and group); 25m fast hearth (group); 25m usual pistol (individual and group); 50m pistol (individual and group); 10m air pistol (group); 10m air rifle (group); 50m susceptible (individual and group); 50m 3P (group); entice (group); double entice (group) and skeet (group).


Women (9): 25m pistol (group); 10m air pistol (group); 10m air rifle (group); 50m susceptible (individual and group); 50m 3P (group); entice (group); double entice (group) and skeet (group).
