Asian Wrestling Championships: Navjot clinches gold, Sakshi wins bronze

NEW DELHI: Ace wrestler Navjot Kaur made India proud via winning the Asian Championships gold, outclassing Japan's Miya Imai Nine-1 in a one-sided contest of the women's 65kg freestyle category final in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

Earlier in the day, India got any other medal through Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik who received the bronze in the 62kg freestyle category once you have better of Kazakhstan's Ayaulym Kassymova 10-7 in a tough battle.



The two medals now took India's general tally to 6, which consisted a gold, a silver and 4 bronze medals.




Navjot, who reached the finals after defeating Mongolia's Tsevegmed Enkhbayar 2-1 in the semis, clinched a two-point lead inside of two minutes but it surely got reverted after Japan challenged the referee's determination. But Navjot fought back to take 2-0 lead and went into the wreck with a convincing Five-0 lead.
