MOGADISHU: At least 14 other folks had been killed and 10 others wounded in a automobile bomb blast near a lodge in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, Somali officers said Thursday.
Capt. Mohamed Hussein said the explosion happened near the Weheliye lodge at the busy Makka Almukarramah road. The road has been a target of attacks in the past through the Somalia-based extremist crew al-Shabab, the deadliest Islamic extremist crew in Africa.
Most of the casualties had been passers-by and buyers, Hussein instructed The Associated Press. The toll of dead and wounded was once introduced through safety ministry spokesman Abdulaziz Hildhiban.
Al-Shabab claimed duty for the blast. The crew steadily attacks Mogadishu's high-profile spaces equivalent to accommodations and army checkpoints. A truck bombing in October killed 512 other folks in the country's deadliest-ever assault. Only a few attacks since 9/11 have killed more other folks. Al-Shabab was once blamed.
Thursday's blast comes virtually exactly a month after two automobile bomb explosions in Mogadishu shattered a months-long period of calm in the city, killing at least 21 other folks.
