NEW DELHI: The presence of ‘further officers’ within the Commonwealth Games-bound Indian contingent has turn out to be a major flashpoint between the sports activities ministry and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

On Thursday, IOA president Narinder Batra was once essential of the sports activities ministry for reportedly lowering the additional officers within the contingent, together with badminton avid gamers Saina Nehwal’s father Harvir Singh and PV Sindhu’s mom Vijaya Pusarla. The ministry has it sounds as if struck off the names of all 21 further officers. However, the contingent checklist shared by way of Batra showed 15 names had been dropped. As in keeping with the IOA, 222-member athletes can be accompanied by way of 74 officers.

“These further officers are the true requirements of the federations at the Games. And, they are going at the federations’ value. I don’t know why government is making so much noise,” Batra said here.

The names of 15 further officers have already been not noted by way of the ministry. The contingent checklist can be positioned ahead of sports activities minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore for the overall clearance on Friday. It could be attention-grabbing to look whether Rathore persists with the ministry’s determination or decides to ship the additional officers at “no value to the federal government”.

It has been learnt that Batra had a telephonic dialog with Rathore later within the night time and requested him to transparent the additional officers, together with the names of Saina’s father and Sindhu’s mom, for free of charge to the federal government. Rathore will finalise the contingent on Friday.

According to the checklist accessed by way of TOI, names of leader clinical officer Arun K Mendiratta and physiotherapist Hema Valecha (part of the IOA’s own contingent personnel) had been not noted by way of the ministry. The different further officers whose names had been dropped come with – Everard Graeme (physio, squash) Prem Verma (ladies’s supervisor, table tennis), Mahinder Singh (men’s supervisor, table tennis), Kishore Dey (physio, table tennis) Harpreet Kaur (masseur, table tennis), Rajeev Tomar (trainer, wrestling), Asit Kumar Saha (trainer, wrestling), Vishal Kumar Rai (physiotherapist, wrestling), Satya Sangwan (supervisor, para sports activities), Johnson (physiotherapist, badminton) and either of Aayush Yekhande or Gaurav Ahluvalia (physiotherapist, boxing).

Even shooting trainer and 10m air pistol specialist Heena Sidhu’s husband, Ronak Pandit, is perhaps dropped from the shooting contingent as soon as the overall checklist is cleared following approval. The ministry’s number one objection is that because it price range the federations throughout the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) as part of their Annual Competition and Training Calendar (ACTC), the money spent by way of them at the further officers’ talk over with is also part of the tax payers’ money.
