BENGALURU: Karnataka’s capital and India’s IT capital is at rock bottom of the chart of 23 major Indian towns when it comes to urban governance, consistent with the Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems (ASICS) 2017 by means of the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, a Bengaluru-based non-profit organisation.
The survey, launched on Wednesday, evaluated quality of governance in 23 major towns across 20 states, in response to 89 questions. ASICS 2016 had placed Bengaluru at 16th spot amongst 21towns.
Most towns have scored between three and five.1 out of 10, with Pune topping the charts for the first time. Other towns in the top 5 are Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Bhubaneswar and Surat, with rankings in the vary of 4.6 to 4.five. The survey finds that Indian towns continue to attain low over the past three editions. Though there may be growth in town systems, it’s at an excessively gradual pace.
