ALLAHABAD: Tension prevailed in trans Ganga house of Allahabad district after unknown miscreants vandalised Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar statue in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
The incident befell in Trivenipuram, ADA park colony house of Jhunsi police jurisdiction. Police forces have been roped in to deal with the legislation and order after other people started collecting the spot to peer the vandalised statue.
Speaking to TOI, SP (Trans Ganga) S Okay Singh said, "Two police groups were formed to verify the arrest of legislation breakers who have been eager about vandalising the statue of the Dalit icon. He added that locals of the area have demanded to replace the vandalised statue with a new one.
After being tipped off in regards to the incident, senior police and administrative officers rushed to the spot to take inventory of the situation. Officials, however, confident to put in the brand new statue on the earliest.
