ALLAHABAD: A Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader on Monday night time filed a police criticism against cupboard minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' for allegedly comparing birthday party national president and previous chief minister Mayawati with Ramayana persona Shurpanakha.
The criticism, filed by birthday party's zonal coordinator for Allahabad and Mirzapur, Ashok Kumar Gautam, at Dhoomanganj police station states that "Nandi has degraded the dignity of a woman of lower caste and has also hurt the religious sentiments of people belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes."
Nandi, alternatively, declined to remark at the issue on Tuesday.
As part of the election similar campaign, Nandi had made the alleged remarks at a rally at Durga Puja Park, Preetam Nagar within the city on March four. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath was additionally present with different senior leaders at the rally.
SSP Akash Kulhari advised TOI, "The complaint against cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' has been accepted by the Dhoomanganj police. We are now seeking legal opinion related to the case and steps will be taken accordingly."
A social activist and legal professional, Charlie Prakash, additionally filed an online criticism with the Election Commission of India (ECI) alleging that 'Nandi' violated the style of behavior by handing over inflammatory speech and passing derogatory comments against Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, former CM Akhilesh Yadav, former cupboard minister Shivpal Yadav and BSP president Mayawati at the election rally.
Prakash demanded "stern action against Nandi by debarring him from further canvassing and making public speech till the elections are over".
