ECI: Voters can enrol after final list is published

BENGALURU: The Election Commission of India and chief electoral officer, Karnataka, have filed a joint statement earlier than the high court docket, declaring that even after publication of the overall electoral rolls, electorate can document for inclusion in their names as electorate.

"Their claims will be considered and the ECI and CEO will publish supplementary rolls, if the need arises. No citizen will be deprived of legal /constitutional rights," the agencies said in their statement of objections to a PIL filed by way of NGO Whitefield Rising Trust. In Mahadevapura constituency, pursuant to the November 30, 2017 draft rolls, 31,457 applications had been received and 23,342 integrated within the listing. The final listing might be revealed on February 28.


The petitioner had hunted for a route to the CEO, Karnataka, to procedure all applications submitted for inclusion, transfer or amendment to the electoral rolls in a time-bound method. A route was once also sought to be sure that the standing of every application is made recognized to the applicant either electronically /online on a real-time foundation.
