Foresters rescue 5-foot-long black cobra from Gurugram village

GURUGRAM: A five-foot-long Indian cobra used to be rescued by the wooded area department on Friday night time from a residential building in Kaliawas village. The snake, estimated to be a 10-year-old male, used to be found in good health and released again to its natural habitat.

“We were given a decision from a resident of Kaliawas about a black cobra in his space. It used to be tricky to consider as black cobra is very rare in this area. However, we in an instant rushed to the spot. The snake used to be hiding in the back of a cabinet. We first put the entire stuff in the house out after which rescued the snake,” said Anil Gandas, flora and fauna conservationist and founder president of NGO Environment and Wildlife Society.


Gandas said that Indian cobras become lively in summer. “Generally, the snake preys on rats at night. The snake would possibly have were given stuck within the house. Generally, cobras become lively in summers. They seldom bite however people every so often get bitten after they step at the snake or attempt to catch it,” he said.


According to Gandas, he has rescued handiest 10 black-coloured Indian cobras within the area in the past 8 years. “Generally, spectacled cobra are found within the area,” he said.


Locally referred to as Kala Naag, the species is secure below Wildlife Protection Act, Schedule I.
