NEW DELHI: In an ironic twist, the federal government has refused to proportion data on hiring of knowledge commissioners for the Central Information Commission (CIC). The fee has been wanting four data commissioners for some months now. The advertisement for hiring new data commissioners was once taken out in 2016.
The division of personnel and coaching (DoPT), in resolution to an RTI plea, said the guidelines was once exempt beneath RTI regulations. “The document in terms of appointment of knowledge commissioner in CIC and dealt after 01-01-2017 is exempted from disclosure at this degree,” said the answer by way of DoPT to an RTI plea filed by way of Aseem Takyar. Later, an RTI plea confirmed that 225 candidates had applied for the vacancies. Since then, on the other hand, there was little motion on the document.
“Eighteen months ago, the federal government had advertised for the submit. 225 packages have been gained however no appointments until date. Since then, two additional info commissioners have retired. This is wrongly going to impact transparency law,” Batra said.
At present, the CIC is operating with seven data commissioners, including the chief data commissioner, against a sanctioned strength of 11. Of the seven, 3 are set to retire this 12 months.
Takyar, who filed the RTI plea in January, had asked for details of the appointment.
