Impeachment move against CJI: Lawyers to cease work on April 2 in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Lawyers across Odisha will apply April 2 as ‘Pratibad Divas (protest day)’ towards the impeachment move towards Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. The legal professionals will cease paintings at the day.
Executive committee of the All Odisha Lawyers’ Association, a union of legal professionals, conducted the most important meeting right here on Saturday and decided to watch the April 2 as Pratibad Divas to oppose the impeachment move taken via some member of Parliaments towards the CJI.

The association condemned the MPs for bringing a suggestion to begin impeachment movement towards Misra. “We will cease paintings as a mark of protest. Our legal professionals will stage dharna in entrance of different courts within the state,” mentioned Bibhu Prasad Tripathy, general secretary of the association.

Association president Gyana Ranjan Mohanty appealed to the legal professionals to protest towards the move via looking at the day as ‘save the judiciary day’. The legal professionals termed the move towards CJI as a politically motivated initiative to collapse the nation’s judiciary system.

The legal professionals of Orissa High Court on Thursday had boycotted complaints in protest towards the impeachment move, which has been initiated via the Congress.

Misra belongs to Odisha. He had started his occupation from Orissa high court within the late 1970s. He is the 3rd person from Odisha to become CJI after Gopal Ballav Patnaik and Ranganath Mishra.

Even the ruling BJD has also said that it could not improve the impeachment movement towards Justice Misra.
