Missing JNU student says she had 'gone out'

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old JNU PhD scholar, who had long gone missing on March 11, informed her folks on Thursday that she was once nice and had "gone out", police said.

The matter came to mild after her circle of relatives lodged a criticism on March 12 at the Vasant Kunj police station, they said.

"The missing student has said that she had gone out on her own. She is fine," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southwest, Milind Dumbere.

She is in Lucknow. The girl was once constantly being contacted on her cell phone through police officials but it surely was once switched off, every other officer said.

However, she contacted the Inspector investigating the case after she switched on her telephone and found a number of calls and messages from the officer, police said.

She informed the group of workers that she is fine and had left on her own.


The inspector also asked her to tell her family members that she is fine. Subsequently, she informed her folks too.


The girl had spoken to her circle of relatives on March 10 but from March 11, her telephone was once switched off, they said.


Police said that after her circle of relatives's makes an attempt to track her didn't yield consequence, they approached them with a criticism.


The matter is being probed, they said.
