Noida RWA federation calls for a polythene-free city

NOIDA: The Noida Residents Welfare Associations (RWA) has despatched out a round to resident welfare bodies of the entire sector in quest of a whole ban on polythene baggage in their respective spaces. Those failing to comply will be penalised as in keeping with the NGT tips.

"Further to our circular dated Feb 24 on ensuring plythene ban in residential sectors and across the city, it is noted that many RWAs are yet to make sincere efforts in this regard. Hence, we requested all RWAs to make earnest steps in strengthening a polythene-free Noida drive," stated NP Singh, president, Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA).

The RWA federation steered native RWAs to protecting regular meetings with residents to teach them relating to damaging and ill-effects of polythene, distribute pamphlets in sectors drawing the eye of the public in regards to the hostile effects of using polythene, grasp consciousness marches within the sectors, post notices and hoardings and urge all shopkeepers in residential sectors to desist from the usage of polythene baggage.

"We are determined to make this drive a success and will ensure penal action as per environment norms on anyone found flouting the rules," stated Singh.
