GUWAHATI: A 'rail roko' agitation by the Adivasi National Convention Committee (ANCC) on Thursday affected teach services around the state. Though several trains needed to be cancelled, teach services resumed after the agitation was called off, in step with the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authorities. No untoward incident was reported. The ANCC has been tough ST standing for the Adivasi group for long.
Picketers blocked railway tracks at quite a lot of places, including Kokrajhar in Alipurduar department, Mazbat in Rangiya department, Bokajan in Lumding department and Sapekati in Tinsukia department. Nine long-distance trains had been managed at other stations, while any other 9 local passenger trains had been cancelled throughout the day. The 12423 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was managed at New Bongaigaon, the 15959 Kamrup Express was managed at New Alipurduar, the 14056 Brahmputra Mail was managed at Bhojo station, the 15621 Kamakhya-Anand Vihar Express was managed at Goalpara, the 12514 Guwahati-Secunderabad Express and 13247 Capital Express had been managed at New Bongaigaon.
