VIJAYAPURA: A Class 10 studen t was allegedly gang-raped by way of four men in a banana field at Nagabenal village in Muddebihal taluk near Nalatawad on Tuesday. One of the accused was stuck by way of the lady's father who heard her cries for help, whilst 3 others are on the run.
Thousands of villagers blocked the street in Viresh Nagar and burned tyres to protest the alleged d elay in nabbing the culprits. Police confident action can be taken and satisfied them to retreat after traffic was held up for a number of hours.
The lady was on her option to college when she was accosted by way of the four men. They were it sounds as if waiting for her because it was the usual route she took to university. The accused then dragged her to the banana field located behind the ancient Seven Round Fort locality and raped her.
The lady and her family are living within sight. As she cried for help, her father heard her and rushed to the spot. Three of the assaulters fled. One of them, Viresh Kandagal, was stuck and surrounded by way of villagers as the lady's father raised an alarm. Angry villagers thrashed him prior to police arrived. An officer of the Nalatawad police outpost took him into custody and later passed him over to Muddebihal police.
The lady was taken to the government sanatorium where medical doctors examined her and showed rape. The lady's father filed a case on the Muddebihal police station. A manhunt is on to track the 3 absconding culprits.
