CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu govt would exchange buses operated through State Transport Undertakings which have been greater than 10 years outdated and a sum of Rs 600 crore can be infused as share capital, deputy leader minister O Panneerselvam stated on Thursday.
"In 2018-19, the state government will infuse share capital of Rs 600 crore in state transport undertakings for purchasing and inducting 3,000 new buses," he stated in his funds speech in the assembly.
With the two,000 new buses sanctioned in 2017-18 and with the proposal to induct three,000 new buses, the federal government would exchange all of the four,593 buses which were in use for greater than 10 years, he stated.
Stating that the federal government was once committed to provide environment friendly and effective public shipping gadget, he stated, "the general price rise and increase in salary adversely affected the operations of state transport undertakings."
It may be recalled that shipping employees in December remaining went on an indefinite strike urgent for various calls for together with salary revision.
Panneerselvam stated in 2017-18, the state govt launched Rs 2,519.25 crore to the STUs to tide over the severely stressed out financial place and to settle the retirement receive advantages dues to pensioners, pending dues to existing workers.
He stated a sum of Rs 2,717.34 crore has been allotted for the shipping division which include Rs 799.25 crore as subsidy without spending a dime bus passes equipped to students and senior voters.
