TN forest fire: Govt will order probe into trekking without permission, CM says

SALEM: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi Okay Palaniswami on Sunday night time said the federal government would order a probe into the trekking expedition organised by a Chennai-based membership with out due approval from the forest division.

The trekkers have been caught in a forest fireplace in Theni district.


Talking to newshounds at Salem, the manager minister said the federal government used to be taking all efforts to rescue trekkers trapped within the forest fireplace.


“The state executive had approached the defence minister for assistance in rescue efforts. Subsequently, helicopters were pressed into service to rescue the trekkers trapped within the forest,’’ he said.
