KANPUR: The bodies of a pair discovered putting from a tree in Rihua village below the limits of Indergarh police station of Kannauj district sent surprise waves amongst their family members and villagers on Saturday.
According to police preliminary probe, the couple, who have been in love with every other, it appears committed suicide. Bodies of Deepu (18) and Kranti (18) have been discovered putting early on Saturday morning. Locals, who have been on their strategy to fields, noticed the bodies putting from a 'Babul' tree between 6 and 7am on Saturday and raised an alarm and later apprised the police control room of the situation.
Initial investigations printed that the couple had eloped from their houses overdue on Friday night time and later ended their lives. The couple hailed from Bahelia community. The police, however, dominated out the possibility of honour killing, however said that it will examine the case from all angles.
Villagers, meanwhile, claimed that Deepu, son of Dharam Pal, and Kranti, daughter of Mangu Lal, have been residents of the similar village. "Both Deepu and Kranti used to work in a private firm in Panipat district of Haryana, where they developed an affair. Recently, the duo had returned home. Kranti's parents had fixed her marriage with a youth from neighbouring area of the district," they stated.
Police sent the bodies for autopsy and have been waiting for results. Inspector Shailendra Singh stated: "As per the preliminary findings, they were in love with each other. It appears that they entered into a suicide pact, because their family members were not willing to accept their relationship. However, we would investigate the case from all angles."
Statements of villagers and family members have been being recorded to determine why the couple took the extreme step.
