KOLKATA: Carrying placards that stated “we want justice” and chanting slogans of “alternate the system”, a group of students of classes XII, XI and X from quite a lot of CBSE colleges took out a rally on Sunday, to protest towards the board’s determination to behavior a retest of the Class XII economics paper on April 25. Clad in t-shirts and denims, the 40-odd boys and girls marched from Garia Kanungo Park, along Raja Subodh Mullick Square Road and EM Bypass Link Roadtill the floating market at Patuli from 11am until 12.30pm.
“This will have been that time of the year once we would have either been holidaying in the hills with our oldsters or putting out with buddies. But here we are strolling with placards and posters, shouting slogans towards an schooling system that has ruined that happiness,” stated Rohan Kabir, a Class XII scholar of commerce in an English-medium faculty in south Kolkata.
The staff used to be stopped through police as they didn’t have respectable permission to hold a rally. But on finding out the problem, the law enforcement officials allowed the kids to continue on their march along one aspect of the road and escorted them safely all of the approach.
“Why will we undergo for the negligence and misdeeds of few corrupt officers? We don’t need to take a retest,” stated some other Class XII scholar.
When the march used to be planned on Thursday, it used to be to protest towards the retest of both classes X and XII. However, through Friday night, the HRD ministry scrapped the retest for Class X arithmetic examination in Bengal. April 25 used to be announced because the date of second look for Class XII economics paper.
The Facebook page created to prepare the event had garnered excellent response, but with Class X students being relieved of the retest, they misplaced a bit of make stronger. However, numerous students still attended the rally.
“We don't seem to be political leaders for whom the selection of people in the crowd matters. We are organising this protest march for a cause. If the Class X students may well be pardoned from the retest, why will we need to undergo? With the examination scheduled on April 25, how can we get again the focus?” asked Anik Saha, a Class XII scholar.
Some students of classes XI and X, too, grew to become up to offer make stronger. “When the protest used to be planned, our retest had not been scrapped. Now we have now been relieved, but our seniors will still need to take the retest. We are here to be through their aspect and to ship a message to CBSE that they can not play with our long term,” stated Somujjal Dey, a Class X scholar.
When the students had accumulated at Garia and have been applying finishing touches to the banners and posters, some locals and oldsters of young students also sympathised with them. But not all have been supportive. “It is gloomy to peer the fate of those students. However, I don’t suppose conserving a rally will do any excellent. It is gloomy, but they must cross home and study,” stated Asit Karmakar, a Garia resident whose son research in Class VIII.
