On day of retirement, UP headmaster immolates self in classroom

JHANSI: The headmaster of a government college in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur district immolated himself in a classroom at the day of his retirement, leaving behind a detailed suicide word at the blackboard.

In his suicide word, he highlighted corruption within the college, alleging that college government and gram pradhan had withheld his salary for the final six months as a result of he refused to pay them a bribe. The accused gram pradhan, Mohan Singh, has been arrested.


On Saturday night, a mason operating within the college saw smoke popping out of a classroom and alerted college government. When the school workforce entered the room they discovered that Omprakash Pateriya, 60, had set himself on hearth. Pateriya, who was once due to retire on Saturday, had stayed back within the college till past due night to complete formalities.


The word discussed that gram pradhan Mohan Singh, noon meal coordinator Kapil Dubey, president of scholar tracking committee Sohan Singh, and Bunti Raja and Rupesh Kumar Niranjan stressed Pateriya and didn't factor him a “no-objection certificates”.


Police have filed an FIR towards the suspects below relevant Sections of the IPC and Section 7/13A of the Prevention of Corruption Act. DM Lalitpur Manvendra Singh stated the gram pradhan has been arrested while Dubey’s noon meal contract, suspended. Circle officer, Talbeth, Arun Singh, stated the other four accused are absconding.
