Government names new Bank Board Bureau chief, members

MUMBAI: The executive on Thursday named former bureaucrat Bhanu Pratap Sharma as the brand new chairman of the Bank Board Bureau (BBB) that typically recommends senior government appointments within the country's state-run banks.
Sharma replaces Vinod Rai, who used to be appointed as the primary chairman of BBB for a two 12 months term. While pronouncing the appointment, Financial Services Secretary Rajiv Kumar mentioned Sharma may have the same mandate as used to be given Rai. Sharma has been appointed for two years.


"Govt renews commitment to not interfere in Sr level appointments in PSBs," Kumar mentioned in a tweet whilst pronouncing the brand new appointment.


Vedika Bhandarkar, a former head of India investment banking at Credit Suisse, P Pradeep Kumar, a former managing director at top lender State Bank of India, and Pradip Shah who founded local ratings company CRISIL were named as the brand new individuals of the Bank of Board Bureau.


Rajeev Kumar, the top executive bureaucrat overseeing banking, announced the names of the brand new chairman and individuals of the bureau on Twitter.


The executive supposed to take ahead recommendations, together with human resource reforms, made via the former officials of Bank Board Bureau, Kumar mentioned.
