MANGALURU: Pregnant ladies within the district are having a harrowing time following the federal government’s choice to mandate identification playing cards for scanning.
A new rule by the federal government, which is in place since March 1, has made it mandatory for a pregnant lady to furnish any of her identification playing cards similar to AADHAAR, PAN, riding license, ration card or 'thayi card' to go through scanning. However, just a few ladies are acutely aware of the rule and most of them are observed going again home with out being scanned.
Lack of awareness within the district has hit the rural ladies harder. Women from so far as Belthangady, some 60km from right here, too, are being sent home for no longer with the ability to produce any proof to determine their identification. Since many of the subtle scanning centres are situated in and round Mangaluru, the women from far-off parts are feeling the heat.
Dr Ramakrishna Rao, district health and family welfare officer, agreed that the lack of information has been causing problems, particularly to rural pregnant ladies. “In the remaining month, we've been apprised of instances where ladies have been caught unawares of the rule. These are initial hiccups. Awareness is now being built,” he said.
An employee at a scanning centre within the city said they're required to add the scan main points on-line, and hence, customers are required to furnish identification playing cards. “Uploading the documents is mandatory to avail quite a lot of advantages similar to Janani Suraksha Yojana and a host of alternative amenities by the state and the central governments,” he said.
However, those no longer prepared to avail any govt advantages, too, are required to furnish identification card. “We need an identification for normal scans so we can record the choice of ladies scanned, the reason for scanning, the location they underwent scanning and so forth. Hence, it turns into essential that every one pregnant ladies furnish their identification playing cards,” Dr Rao said.
