Speed post agents to go on indefinite strike from Monday

MUMBAI: The 800-900 pace submit brokers citywide will move on indefinite strike from Monday April 2 to protest a drastic aid in fee charges. However, submit workplaces will proceed to accept and dispatch pace submit articles.
The brokers are protesting the merger of the present Out Sourcing Agent (OSA) scheme with the brand new Outsourced Postal Agents (OPA) scheme which is able to vastly slash their source of revenue.

Surendra Bajpai, president of MOFA (Mumbai Outsourcing and Franchisee Association), which is leading the strike, stated, "We agents bring 70% of the revenue the postal department earns through speed post. Since 20 years we have been offering doorstep booking and pick-up of parcels for bulk consumers. Under OSA, we would receive Rs 12 for every Rs 100 revenue earned for the department. Under OPA we will receive only 20 paise. We are now also barred from taking international bookings. We will soon be out of work." Moreover, there's a cap on bookings underneath OPA.

Chief postmaster common H C Agarwal stated, "The agents have cultivated a loyal clientele like banks and small enterprises over 20 years because they offer doorstep services. It is not possible for all businessmen to dispatch an office attendant to the post office every day to stand in queue. But this decision was taken in Delhi by the directorate of postal services so there is little we can do."

This strike on the flip of the monetary yr will affect banks like HDFC, ICICI and SBI which interact their products and services.

Like the small saving brokers who went into bankruptcy after their fee was slashed, the velocity submit brokers could quickly change into unemployed.
