3 Taiwanese held with Rs 1.8cr gold in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs on Saturday arrested three Taiwanese for allegedly smuggling 6 kg of gold value Rs 1.75 crores hidden in their waists.

The Customs have arrested Chiu Chuang Chun, Lai Shu Hui Chiu and Tseng Chao Wei under quite a lot of customs act for smuggling gold bars value Rs 1.75 crore.


On the particular information within the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) detained the Taiwanese once they arrived from Hong Kong via Cathway Pacific Airways CX-663. Officials mentioned they walked from the fairway channel and were proceeding in opposition to the go out gate when customs officials intercepted them.


They were requested to walk in the course of the steel detector frame at the airport and it gave a beep sound indicating the presence of a few steel on their body. They were checked and six foreign marking gold bars of 1 kg each and every were discovered on them. Lai Shu Hui advised officials he had visited Mumbai two times previous and had cleared with 14 kgs of gold into India.
