6 college students held for peddling ganja

Coimbatore: Six youths who began their higher schooling as meritorious school students in a leading schooling institution in the town have ended up in the back of the bars after changing into ganja peddlers.
The town police arrested the six students for ownership of 2kg of ganja for gross sales at Codissia Road near Peelamedu on Friday. Police said the students have been staying in a condominium room at Bharathi Colony in Peelamedu and acquired ganja from Bengaluru in Karnataka. The six have been selling ganja to a number of different school students in and round Peelamedu. The arrested six have been lodged at the Coimbatore central prison on overdue Friday night time. The arrested students have been identified as V Manikandan, 21, of Hosur in Krishnagiri, M Akshay, 20, of Kunnathur in Tirupur, S Gopalakrishnan, 21, of Boyampalayam in Tirupur, S Vignesh, 21, of Kangeyam Road in Tirupur, R Sriram, 21, of Puliyampatti in Erode district, and R Arjun, 21, of Gandhipuram in Mettupalayam.

Manikandan, Vignesh and Arjun have been learning BE (robotics). Sriram and Gopalakrishnan have been learning final 12 months BBA (data systems) and Akshay used to be learning final 12 months BSc (electronics).


The Peelamedu police were given a tip-off that a couple of early life have been selling ganja steadily on Codissia Road. They nabbed the youths along side the contraband.
