HYDERABAD: In but another horrific case of animal cruelty, six stray canine were allegedly poisoned by residents of Moula Ali’s MJ Colony (Street No. five) over a span of 20 days.
The incident came to gentle on Monday, after one of the Community Animal Protectors (CAP) realised that healthy canine in the area were unexpectedly death, and alerted volunteers of People for Animals (PFA), an organisation running for animal welfare.
“Our CAP volunteer Pratap Kundeti suspected foul play after he noticed that a canine that he fed on Saturday night was useless on Monday morning. On close inspection of the useless animal, he noticed that there were no indicators of harm or struggle at the canine’s body,” said Dattatreya Joshi, leader executive officer of PFA. He added: “We rushed to the spot after Pratap knowledgeable us about this and later sent the canine’s body for autopsy.”
Following a grievance lodged with the Malkajgiri police by PFA, a case was registered beneath Section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming animals) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 11 of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960.
This is the second one time in the remaining 10 days the place stray canine have died beneath suspicious instances.
