After a cool April, mercury to hit 37°C next week

CHENNAI: The first four months this year have turnedouttobecooler than standard, displays India Meteorological Department (IMD) knowledge. After recording the coldest iciness (January– February) in 5 years, town experienced below-normal temperatures in March. This April,thecity sunlight hours(maximum) temperature crossed the 36°C mark most effective on three days, ascomparedto ninedays ultimate year.



True to IMD’s summer season forecast, the temperature has remained standard or under standard thus far. The IMD predicted that the sunlight hours temperature from April to June can be 0.14 degrees under standard acrossTamilNadu. The town recorded a median maximum temperature of 34.eight°C, which is 0.20 degrees under the per 30 days reasonable.


The best possible maximum temperature recorded this April used to be 36.6°C, compared to 39.7°C ultimate year. The all-time best possible maximum temperature right through April is 42.eight°C, which used to be recorded again in 1908. In 2016, town recorded a high of 40.eight°C right through the month.


As town approaches the hottest season of the year (May-June), weathermen predict the temperature to rise above 37°C inside per week.
